Grab Bag - Palette Collections
New for the 2025 Growing Season: Introducing Palette Collections!
I've had this idea in mind for the last few years, and I'm excited to finally launch it!
While it's fun looking through hundreds of varieties, it can also be overwhelming and time-consuming. With palette collections, you will save time, and I will have flexibility in fulfilling your tuber order once I see how successfully my tubers have overwintered.
Each growing season, I take orders for bulk blooms in specific palettes. The most popular are terracotta, dark reds, or blush palettes. Over the seasons, I've developed my own personal aesthetic for arrangements, which you can see on my Instagram and throughout this site.
Something I've been playing with is using a complementary color bloom as an accent. For example, the Dewdrop Collection, a blush palette, might have one smaller, darker bloom such as Crème de Cassis that would add depth and contrast to your home arrangements or bouquets for friends.
Each collection will have five tubers grown without chemicals or pesticides on my little one-acre farm in Freeport, Maine. Palettes are described below.
SUNSET PALETTE
Five dahlia tubers in flame hues of warm terracotta, vibrant purples and dark reds.
Typical varieties in this palette include Cornel Bronze, Jomanda, Ice Tea, Maarn, Ferncliff Copper, Amber Queen, Belle of Barmera, Einstein, Taboo, Beets Me, Boogie Nights, Amulet, “Spiky Maroon,” Cornel, Lollipop, Japanese Bishop, Wildman, Wyn’s Cinnabar, Firepot, or American Dawn.
Accent colors for depth and contrast include soft golds like Day Dreamer and Honeymoon, or deep lavenders like Caitlyn's Joy.
MIDNIGHT PALETTE
A collection of five dahlia cultivars in deep reds and velvety purple tones.
Typical varieties in this palette include Nighty Night, Jason Matthew, “Spiky Maroon,” Taboo, Beets Me, Boogie Nights, Einstein, Amulet, Cornel, Crossfield Ebony, Dot Com, Hollyhill Black Beauty, Pop Talk, or Tartan.
