Where to Buy Blooms
I’m a small farm in Freeport, Maine, selling Wholesale and to the Public. All blooms are grown without pesticides or chemicals, which is important to many clients. They are harvested at dawn the same day for the longest vase life.
Please find what you’re looking for below, and then reach out through the contact page or to freeportdahlias@gmail.com to start the conversation.
Check, cash, Venmo, and Paypal are all accepted.
General Public
For the longest vase life, you’ll want to take your flowers straight home to a cool environment—please don’t run errands after pickup and leave them in a hot car!
WRAPPED BUNCHES at WANDERLUST Each Week
You may purchase dahlias and sunflowers each week from Wanderlust Juicery in Freeport. Check Instagram for each week’s offerings.
AT THE FARM on Saturdays
You can also find blooms at the farm, Saturdays from 9:00 to 12:00. Besides wrapped bunches, I’ll offer my popular “desktop bouqs,” which are smaller and have shorter stems. These come in a takeaway jar of water that fits in your cup holder for the trip home. Selections will change weekly according to flower yield and weather events. Sunflowers are also available.
CUSTOM BOUQUET ORDERS
Custom Bouquets in Vases are a special order. I only do a few custom bouqs each year, so it’s best to plan ahead and to reach out on the Contact Page to start the conversation. These typically run $85 to $120, and I’m happy to provide an estimate and work with your budget the best I can. I also sell vases at the farm if you want to buy dahlia bunches and a vase to make your own bouquet! I also have blank cards with envelopes available, as well as a selection of gifts such as books and locally made products. Delivery is available if this is a gift.
DIY BUCKETS
Hosting a party? DIY Buckets are an easy way to add wow and warmth to your gathering. Buckets of 40-50 long-stem blooms (either straight dahlias or mixed flowers) are $130 and are ideal for those of you designing your own event. Please reach out on the Contact page, and include your pickup date, delivery address, quantity, and color palette, if you have one. I’ll respond with an estimate for you to approve that includes a $5 tax-free refundable bucket deposit, sales tax, and delivery charge (.67/mile, the IRS rate). To confirm your order, DIY Buckets require a 50% deposit at the time of order, with the other 50% due the day before delivery. Please note that deposits are refundable ONLY up to 10 days before the delivery date. These are perishable items that you are reserving, and that I am not selling to others.
All flowers sold to the public are charged 5.5% Maine state sales tax.
I’m trialing over 90 varieties this season, and have depth in about 20 varieties, featured on this page.
Wholesale Clients
I’ve had the pleasure of working with exclusive event florists in the greater Portland area like Lani Toscano Design and Chevaughn Marie Designs, and also enjoy working with smaller event planners.
When floral designers source stems locally, it’s better for the environment, supports our local economy, and results in the freshest blooms possible for your event. My blooms are grown without chemicals or pesticides, which I know is important to many clients, especially for bridal bouquets and boutonnieres.
Orders are processed on a first-come first-served basis, and are confirmed once the 50% down payment is received. This season’s dahlia pricing is $2.75 per stem, with $4.25 per stem for Café au Lait and other “dinnerplate” varieties.
Stems will be harvested at 80% for the longest vase life, fully processed, and banded in bunches of 10. I will bring a receipt for your records.
I am growing a lot of pom-pon varieties this year, which are ideal for boutonnieres or flower girl posies.
How to Order
Please reach out through the Contact page with your date, desired quantity, and color palette. You may email any inspiration palette photos to freeportdahlias@gmail.com. Here is a page showing my overall color palettes this season.
I will confirm availability with a written estimate for you to consider.
50% is due at the time of order (along with a copy of your resale certificate if you are requesting tax-exempt status) with the remaining balance due the day before delivery. Orders are refundable ONLY up to 10 days before your delivery date. These are perishable items that you are reserving, and that I am not selling to others.
Ten days prior to your delivery date, I will again confirm quantities.
Delivery is 67 cents a mile round trip (the IRS rate), and bucket deposits are $5 each. I’m happy to wait while you transfer the stems from my buckets to you if you prefer!
Thank you for sourcing local stems!
