Copper Mesh Slug Deterrent
If you’re struggling with slugs this year, I’ve been using copper mesh around the base of my dahlia plants from the moment they break the surface. Slugs don’t want to cross copper, and it has something to do with their chemical makeup. It’s been highly effective for me. In fact, the only places I now see slug damage is where a leaf is touching the side of a garden bed or pot and acting as a land bridge for the slug into the plant. (I even go so far as to tear off the ends of leaves that are touching the sides of pots or garden beds to avoid this.)
Sold by the foot.
